What American will not remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001?  We all lost some part of ourselves that day.  We all mourn the senseless deaths of so many innocent people.
President George W. Bush said, "Terrorist attacks can shake the foundation of our biggest buildings, but  they cannot touch the foundation of  America.  These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve."
Mayor Rudolph Guiliani recited from the bible and closed his readings by stating, ".....they didn't stop to ask how rich or poor the person was, they didn't stop to ask what religion, what race, what nationality.  They just raced in to save their fellow human beings. They are the best example of love that we have in our society".

Michael Roche, inspired by the loss of so many firefighting brothers and the continuous, television news coverage, sculpts his interpretation of America's resolve and brotherly love in the form of  "Brotherhood of Honor".

In the line of duty, the average fireman has many opportunities for heroism while merely performing the job for which he (or she) is trained.  Fighting fire in a vacant building is harrowing enough, but when in a home that is occupied, saving the structure becomes secondary to saving the lives of any man, woman or child that is trapped within.

Firefighters are called upon to do many tasks beyond extinguishing fires.  These tasks involve the extrication, or removal of injured people trapped in a car following a traffic accident.  Using specialized tools, the car can be cut and removed from around the person.  This allows for urgent medical care and timely transportation to the medical facility.
